Undertake the Huchuy Qosqo 2-day trek, a short but unforgettable adventure that combines Inca history, Andean landscapes and living culture. Departing from Cusco, you will travel through ancient trails, traditional communities and impressive mountains before reaching the enigmatic archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo. Perfect for those looking for an authentic and less touristy experience in the Sacred Valley.
We begin with pick-up from the hotel between 7:30 am heading to Tambomachay, which is located at 3700 meters above sea level. Where we will walk uphill for about 3 hours to enjoy a majestic view over a series of valleys. We will continue walking along small trails with numerous stops to rest. Around 2pm we will arrive at Lake Qoricocha with its crystal clear waters. Along the way, you will be rewarded with a stunning view of three lakes: Qoricocha, Piuray. We will have enough time to relax, rest and recover with a delicious lunch prepared by a cook at the refuge. In the afternoon we will prepare to camp, and around 7:00 p.m. dinner will be ready. Vegetarian options are available.
Early in the morning, around 6.30 am, we had breakfast and got ready to continue along the trail, ascending for approx. 4 hours with some stops for lunch and rest until we reach the Inca site of Huchuy Qosqo, recently restored by archaeologists, located at 3,450 meters above sea level. On the way we will pass through a small Canyon, which is part of the Inca Trail. From this point we will have a clear view of the mountains such as Chicon, Pitusiray, Sawasiray, Waccaywilca and Veronica. To finally begin the descent walk to Lamay for about 2 hours with stops. Here our return transportation to Cusco awaits us.
